Fay Donohue has been a leader in medicine and dentistry since 1975. Ms. Donohue served as the CEO of DentaQuest Ventures, Inc. from March 2007 to April 2015. Previously, she served as the CEO and President of Dental Service of Massachusetts (d/b/a Delta Dental of Massachusetts). She has held several other leadership positions in dental organizations including COO of DentaQuest Ventures. Ms. Donohue is currently on the Boards of Directors of the National Institute of Children’s Health Care Quality, the Commonwealth Institute and Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care and was previously an Independent Director of American Dental Partners.
Steven Epstein is the founder of Epstein Becker & Green, P.C. Epstein Becker & Green, P.C. supports clients throughout the country in 25 different areas of healthcare practice, ranging from health policy to strategic partnering to complex compliance issues. The firm is generally recognized as one of the leading law firms in healthcare, with over 100 attorneys dedicated to that specialty. As the senior health partner in the firm, Mr. Epstein provides a wide range of healthcare organizations and providers with strategic guidance on the legal challenges and opportunities of the rapidly changing American health care system. In this connection, Mr. Epstein currently sits on the Board of Directors of a number of healthcare companies. Prior to Epstein Becker & Green, Mr. Epstein worked at Barrett Knapp Smith & Shapiro. Mr. Epstein has also served as a legal consultant to the Health Maintenance Organization Service, Health Services and Mental Health Administration, and U.S. Department of Health, Education and Welfare. Mr. Epstein holds a JD from Columbia Law School and a BA from Tufts University.
Brad Fluegel currently serves on the boards of directors of Premera Blue Cross, Fitbit, Inc., Alight Solutions LLC, Cecilia Health and Performant Financial Corp. Mr. Fluegel recently retired as Chief Healthcare Commercial Market Development Officer of Walgreens Boots Alliance (NYSE: WBA). Mr. Fluegel was responsible for various aspects of corporate strategy and business development, as well as developing and implementing Healthcare Clinic, clinical office, and healthcare innovation strategies. Mr. Fluegel joined Walgreens in October 2012 after previously serving as executive in residence at Health Evolution Partners. Before that he was Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy and External Affairs Officer of Wellpoint, Inc. (“Wellpoint”; NYSE:WLP). Prior to Wellpoint, Mr. Fluegel was Senior Vice President of national accounts and Vice President, Enterprise Strategy at Aetna, Inc. Earlier, Mr. Fluegel was CEO for Reden & Anders (Ingenix Consulting) and Tillinghast-Towers Perrin, a clinical, actuarial and management consulting practice that served all sectors of the health care industry. Mr. Fluegel also held several roles in strategy, planning and product development and management at Harvard Community Health Plan and organized and led audits, feasibility studies and related projects for health care clients at Arthur Andersen & Co. Mr. Fluegel earned a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Washington. He also serves as a lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.
Jim Fuhrman currently serves as the CEO of Primecare Benefits, Inc./Nevada Dental Benefits, Ltd., one of the leading dental health benefits organizations in the Western United States. Previously, Mr. Fuhrman was the EVP of Dental at United Health Group, functioning as the Division CEO responsible for a $1.2 billion P&L and 1,200 employees. Other roles include serving as the EVP and CMO of PacificDental Benefits, a regional dental benefits organization.
Dr. Scott D. Hayworth has been President and CEO of CareMount Medical, PC (formerly Mount Kisco Medical Group PC), one of the largest multispecialty medical groups in New York, for more than 20 years, having started in practice there in 1988. Dr. Hayworth has overseen a more than tenfold growth in the size of CareMount, from 40 physicians in 1996 to more than 600 physicians and advanced practice professionals at over 45 sites throughout the Hudson Valley today. He has earned a national reputation as an authority on practice administration; multispecialty group management; and adaptation to the rapidly changing environment in health care, including the transition to value. Dr. Hayworth is an Associate Dean and Clinical Assistant Professor at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and a Consultant to the Vincent Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Massachusetts General Hospital. He is past chairman of the board of the American Medical Group Association and past National Treasurer and District II Chairman for the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. Dr. Hayworth chairs the advisory board for IKS Health and the board of directors of the Ambulatory Surgery Center of Westchester. He is the President of the board of directors of Bedford Physicians Risk Retention Group. He serves on national advisory boards for Aetna, Anthem, and MedPro. Dr. Hayworth sits on the board of directors of TractManager Medical Holdings and he is a past board member of Brighton Health Partners, Counsyl, Inc., the Northern Westchester Hospital Foundation, and Community Mutual Savings Bank. Dr. Hayworth received his A.B. in Biology from Princeton and his M.D. from Cornell University Medical College.
Joan Herman is currently President and CEO of Herman & Associates LLC, a healthcare and management consulting firm. From 1998 to 2008, Ms. Herman served in a variety of positions at Wellpoint, an insurance company providing healthcare benefits and services to more than 34 million medical members. From 2007 to 2008, Ms. Herman was President and CEO of WellPoint’s Consumer Business Unit, which had over $18 billion in revenue. Prior to Wellpoint, Ms. Herman spent 16 years at Phoenix Life Insurance Company in Hartford, CT. The primary subsidiary of The Phoenix Companies (NYSE: PNX), Phoenix Life Insurance Company is a provider of life insurance and annuities. Ms. Herman last served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Development, where she was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and startups. Ms. Herman currently serves on the boards of Convergys Corporation (NYSE: CVG), MRV Communications, Inc. and QualiCorp, SA. Ms. Herman holds a master’s degree in Mathematics from Yale University, an MBA from Western New England College, and an undergraduate degree in Mathematics from Barnard College-Columbia University.
Jack McCallum, MD, PhD is the founder and former CEO of CenseoHealth, LLC (“Censeo”). Prior to founding Censeo, Dr. McCallum was the founder, President and Chief Medical Officer of one of the first companies to apply clinically based algorithms to Medicare risk adjustment. Previously Dr. McCallum was a founding member of North Texas Specialty Physicians, a multi-specialty, risk-taking provider group that serves over 30,000 members in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Dr. McCallum practiced adult and pediatric neurosurgery in Fort Worth for almost thirty years, while also serving as head of the medical staff at Fort Worth Children’s Hospital. Dr. McCallum earned a doctorate in History from Texas Christian University (“TCU”) and is currently a Professor of the History of Science at TCU. Dr. McCallum has written a number of books and articles and given numerous presentations on healthcare policy and medical history.
Robert Norris founded Complete Healthcare Communications, Inc. in 1994 and served as its CEO and President prior to selling the company to MediMedia in 2007. Earlier in his career, Mr. Norris spent three years working for Astra Zeneca in the United Kingdom where he held positions in international product management, business development, and finance. His broad experience helped head Astra Zeneca’s contracting department for developing, negotiating, and managing product contracts with managed care, government, and group buying organizations. He was named the first marketing manager for Astra Zeneca’s managed care department and was instrumental in helping develop Astra Zeneca’s reputation as one of the country’s leading pharmaceutical companies as rated by managed care organizations.
John Potthoff, Ph.D., is a respected veteran with nearly 25 years in the clinical research services industry. Mr. Potthoff’s career began with a series of executive roles involving increasing responsibility at PPD. After seven years, he left to become the founder and CEO of Tanistry, Inc., a contract research organization focused on the central nervous system. After selling Tanistry to INC Research in 2001, he joined INC Research, a career step that culminated in the role of COO and included seven acquisitions and the sale of the company to private equity investors in 2010. Following his success at INC Research, Mr. Potthoff assumed the position of CEO at Theorem Clinical Research in 2011. In four years, he doubled its revenue, sales, backlog, and earnings. Theorem Clinical Research was sold to Chiltern International in 2015. Potthoff is currently on the board of directors of Advarra, Chembio and Synteract.
Ross Ronan is a focused on all aspects of compliance with healthcare laws and best practices. Mr. Ronan has held various positions with Envision Healthcare Corp and its predecessor companies from 2003-18, most recently serving as CCO and Executive Vice President. Prior to Envision Healthcare, Mr. Ronan served as the corporate compliance and regulatory officer for two major hospitals in Dallas, TX. He worked as an emergency medical technician and as a registered nurse in intensive care and acute care hemodialysis units. Mr. Ronan earned a B.S. degree in Nursing from Regis University in Denver, CO and a J.D. from Texas Wesleyan School of Law.
Greg Serrao is the founder, Chairman and CEO of Thrive Skilled Pediatric Care (“Thrive”), a provider of clinical home care to medically fragile children. Prior to founding Thrive, Mr. Serrao was the founder, Chairman and CEO of American Dental Partners, Inc. (“ADPI”) for 20 years. ADPI is one of the nation’s largest dental practice management companies with 300 locations in 21 states. Mr. Serrao currently serves as Chairman of ADPI. From 1991 through 1995, Mr. Serrao served as the President of National Specialty Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Cardinal Health, Inc. (“Cardinal Health”) and as the Vice President of Corporate Development at Cardinal Health. Before joining Cardinal Health, Mr. Serrao was an investment banker at Dean Witter Reynolds Inc., where he co-founded its health care investment banking group and specialized in mergers, acquisitions, and public equity offerings. Mr. Serrao serves on the Board of Directors of National Institute of Children’s Health Quality (NICHQ) and the Dean’s Board of Advisors at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, is the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Boys and Girls Club in Lawrence, MA, and is a member of the Finance Committee for the Town of Andover, MA. Mr. Serrao holds a B.S. in Accounting from New York University.
Bret Wise is the former Chairman of Dentsply Sirona and the former Chief Executive Officer of Dentsply International prior to its merger with Sirona Dental Systems to form Dentsply Sirona. Dentsply Sirona is the largest global producer of professional dental products, with revenues of $4 billion, operations in more than 40 countries, and sales in more than 120 countries. Mr. Wise was previously Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Ferro Corporation, a global specialty chemical producer. Prior to Ferro Corporation, Mr. Wise was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at WCI Steel, Inc., of Warren, OH. Prior to WCI Steel. he was a partner with KPMG LLP in Cleveland OH. Mr. Wise currently serves on the Board of Vyaire Medical and is the Chairman of the Audit Committee. From 2006 until the company was taken private in 2010, Mr. Wise served on the Board of IMS Health. From 2012 until the time of its sale in September 2015, Mr. Wise served on the Board of Pall Corporation. From 2008 to 2012, Mr. Wise served on the Board (including one year as Chairman) of the Dental Trade Alliance. Since 2007, Mr. Wise has served as a director of Dental Lifeline Network. Mr. Wise holds a BS degree in business from the Indiana University Kelly School of Business and holds CPA certificates in Indiana and Ohio, inactive.
